Privacy Policy.
Meridian Safety Group advises school districts, charter networks, and public institutions on matters that are often sensitive. We take privacy seriously, and we have written this policy to be read.
Who we are
This website is operated by Meridian Safety Group ("Meridian," "we," "us," or "our"), a professional services firm providing strategic safety advisory to K–12 school districts, charter networks, and public school systems in the United States.
For the purposes of this policy, the "Site" refers to meridiansafetygroup.com and any subdomains.
Information we collect
We collect information in two ways.
Information you provide directly
When you submit the inquiry form on our Contact page, we collect the information you choose to provide. Typically this includes your name, email address, the district or organization you represent, your role, the nature of your engagement interest, and any additional context you choose to share in the message field.
When you send us an email directly, we receive the contents of that email along with your email address and any information you choose to include.
Information collected automatically
When you visit the Site, our servers and analytics tools may automatically collect certain standard technical information, including your IP address, browser type and version, device type, the pages you visit and the time spent on them, and the referring page that led you to the Site. This information is collected in aggregate and is not used to identify you individually.
How we use the information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To respond to your inquiry and schedule an initial consultation
- To prepare a scope of work and proposal if an engagement proceeds
- To deliver the services you have engaged us for and communicate with you during an active engagement
- To understand how the Site is used so we can improve it
- To comply with legal obligations, respond to lawful requests, and protect our rights
We do not sell your information. We do not use the information submitted through our inquiry form for marketing to third parties, and we do not add you to a newsletter or email list without your explicit consent.
Information shared with third parties
We use a small number of reputable third-party services to operate the Site and our practice. These providers may process some of the information you provide on our behalf, under contractual obligations to handle it securely and only for the purposes we specify.
- Website hosting. The Site is hosted on a managed WordPress platform that stores the Site's content and form submissions.
- Form processing. Inquiry form submissions are processed by a form plugin and stored in our website database, as well as sent to us by email.
- Analytics. We may use web analytics tools such as Google Analytics to understand aggregate Site usage. These tools collect the technical information described above and may use cookies.
- Email. Messages and form notifications are delivered through standard email infrastructure, which may retain delivery and routing metadata.
We do not share information with third parties for their own independent marketing or advertising purposes.
Cookies
The Site may use a small number of cookies and similar technologies, primarily for analytics (understanding aggregate usage) and for standard website functionality. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies will not prevent you from using the Site.
Confidentiality of inquiries
The nature of Meridian's practice means that the information clients share with us is often sensitive. Inquiries submitted through the Site are treated as confidential and are reviewed only by Meridian personnel who need access to respond.
Once an engagement begins, any additional confidentiality obligations are governed by the engagement agreement between Meridian and the client. This policy does not supersede those obligations.
Information about students
Meridian does not request or require personally identifiable information about students, families, or minors in order to respond to an initial inquiry. If a client engagement requires access to records that may be subject to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) or similar state or federal laws, the handling of those records is governed by the engagement agreement and any separately executed data handling addenda.
If you believe you have inadvertently submitted information identifying a student through our Site, please contact us using the information below and we will work with you to address it.
How we retain information
We retain inquiry submissions and related correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, evaluate potential fit for an engagement, and maintain records of our business relationships. Information associated with active and prior client engagements is retained according to the terms of the engagement agreement and applicable professional recordkeeping standards.
Your rights
Depending on the jurisdiction in which you reside, you may have rights with respect to the information we hold about you, including:
- The right to know what information we have collected
- The right to correct or update inaccurate information
- The right to request deletion of information we hold about you
- The right to request that we stop using your information for specific purposes
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below. We will respond within a reasonable period and may ask you to verify your identity before acting on the request.
If you are a resident of California, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA). Meridian does not sell personal information as that term is defined by California law.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical measures to protect the information we hold. No system is perfectly secure, however. If you believe your interaction with the Site is no longer secure, or if you become aware of a vulnerability in our systems, please let us know immediately using the contact information below.
Children's privacy
The Site is intended for professional audiences — superintendents, district leaders, charter network administrators, and similar roles. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the Site.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of the page. Material changes will be communicated through the Site or, where appropriate, directly to active clients.
